I included two pictures of my FT4 (before I worked on it). If you decide to use it, please credit them. So far as I know, this is the only known FT4, and probably the only one complete and in working order if others still exist.
Note that the tape speed is 25cm/s, bandpass is 3000Hz. This machine was made to record speech. The head assembly is like the K2/K3 series: a rotative assembly which put either the playback head on the tape, or the erase and record heads. Bias is DC of course and you will notice the original AEG kerns with round holes (those on the machine are later ones of course). Two metal grips on the top of the axis ensure propper pression of the kern against the platters to allow the tape to spool and rewind.
The cabinet of my FT4 is all original. It is missing one board attached to the right door, and which can be put horizontal between the two doors when open, in order to makea "bureau" for writing down or reading something to record.
